Four Seasons Health Care Group | Nursing & Residential Care Homes

maximios / Blog

Putting on a loved golden oldie, a weekly pamper session at our in-house salon, enjoying your favourite tipple on a balmy summer evening and knowing that you prefer extra marshmallows on your hot chocolate.

These are the little things in life that make a big difference.

These are the little things that underpin our approach to care in our care homes – a commitment to getting to know you, focussing on you as an individual and what really matters.

Three steps to finding the right care home

1

Understanding which type of health care home group you need and what to look for when choosing a care home.

2

Questions to ask and things to consider when you are looking to visit a selection of care homes.

3

All the questions you might find helpful to think about before you decide on your care home.

Moving into a care home is an important decision for anyone. Many of our residents feel part of a community and families find they capture some quality time back with their loved ones. Here’s what some of our residents have to say about living in our homes.

I love the trips out…I wouldn’t see any of those if I stayed at home. It’s the things you would think, well, I wouldn’t be able to do that.

Joyce
– Care home resident

The team are exceptionally kind, caring and compassionate and residents are respected by the team who value them as a unique individual.

We believe in living life to the full. That’s why we are so passionate about supporting residents to participate in vibrant, stimulating activities.

We believe that if you eat well, you live well, which is why we go that extra mile when it comes to preparing nutritious meals and serving them in our spacious, restaurant-style dining rooms.

    Home> Lifestyle> Creating Magic Moments

We believe in living life to the full. That’s why we are so passionate about supporting residents to participate in vibrant, stimulating activities.

We call them ‘Magic Moments’

Our Magic Moments programme encourages all-round wellbeing with a range of vibrant interactions to stimulate the Mind, Body and Soul. You decide a personal programme, which can focus on keeping the mind sharp and agile, the body fit and mobile, and the soul and spirit lively and engaged through entertainment, challenges, discoveries and personal interests.

Our Magic Moments Coordinators create an ever-changing variety of opportunities, built on our residents’ past experiences and interests. Residents are offered the chance to re-kindle talents, find new hobbies, and involve family, friends and the community in exciting events in our homes. We understand the importance of fresh air and endeavour to make the most of the outside space we have available as well as trips and excursions to local places of interest.

As magic moments are unique to each individual, our Magic Moments programme reflects this too. It is carefully tailored to meet each resident’s individual needs and preferences for the here and now as well as to meet future aspirations, whatever they may be.

To make every day special, we have a Welcome to the week planner. Each week our team create a ‘What’s on’ planner that gives the residents an insight into the week ahead. The team meets with residents at the beginning of the week to chat through what’s on offer and this creates excitement around the home.

Four Seasons Health Care Group have also partnered with Myley to offer bespoke tour experiences that are slightly further afield in some of our care homes.  These tours offer our homes the option to plan a longer excursion that appeals to residents.  From assessing each destination, ensuring it is suitable for our residents, to providing transportation in their fully accessible minibuses, Myley tours are a fantastic opportunity for residents to explore new places and experiences.

Read more out our tours and the upcoming programme here:

We have a unique resource we call our Magic Moments® Portal

Our portal is full of film, TV, music, exercise, relaxation and much more. The online Magic Moments Portal platform is available to everyone in the home to support our wider Magic Moments programme and to create meaningful engagement, fun, reminiscence and lots of conversation starters. The portal means that Magic Moments teams and residents can always have access to their personal favourites as well as discover exciting new things.

Nursing Care | Four Seasons Health Care

maximios / Blog

    Home> Our Care> Nursing Care

At Four Seasons Health Care Group, we provide exceptional nursing care for older adults living with complex health conditions who require ongoing specialist medical support.

Our nursing teams work alongside local GPs and external healthcare practitioners to provide comprehensive, round-the-clock care for residents who require ongoing medical and personal assistance.

Nursing care is a specialised form of care designed for individuals who require round-the-clock medical supervision. It is delivered by fully qualified nurses with the skills and training to manage advanced medical conditions, administer treatments, and provide emotional and physical support. Unlike standard residential care, nursing care is for residents who need more intensive support to manage chronic health conditions like Parkinson’s Disease.

Our nursing care includes:

  • Medication administration, including injections and pain relief
  • Monitoring vital signs and assessing health conditions regularly
  • Wound care, post-surgical care, and care for pressure sores and ulcers.
  • Managing chronic health conditions such as diabetes and heart disease
  • Coordinating with external healthcare providers for specialist treatments

Our dedicated team of highly trained nurses offers person-centred care within our homes, ensuring that each resident’s health and wellbeing are prioritised 24/7.

We also offer eye care services within our homes in partnership with one of the country’s leading eye care specialists. Residents can access complimentary eye exams without leaving the care home through this collaboration, ensuring their vision health is regularly monitored.

At Four Seasons Health Care Group, our care services aim to enhance the quality of life for those with complex health needs, offering them a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment where their care is our top priority.

Nursing care in our homes is typically more intensive than other care forms, involving frequent monitoring, medication management, and clinical nursing. Our registered nurses are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, ensuring continuous care for residents. From wound care and pain management to monitoring chronic conditions and administering treatments like insulin injections, our team is equipped to meet a wide range of medical needs with skill and compassion.

Benefits Of Nursing Care for Residents with Complex Needs

  • Expert Medical supervision: With our nursing care, residents receive oversight from trained nurses who can respond quickly to changes in their condition. This reduces the risk of complications and ensures timely intervention when needed.  Our team work to support medical guidance provided by the resident’s GP or other prescribers.
  • Personalised Care Plans: Each of our resident’s care plan is tailored to their specific medical requirements, ensuring that they receive tailored treatments and support. This helps manage their symptoms effectively while promoting independence and dignity.
  • Safe and Secure Environment: With round-the-clock care available, residents are in a safe environment where their needs are constantly monitored. This includes fall prevention, medication management, and emergency response.
  • Support for Families: Families gain peace of mind knowing that their loved ones are in capable hands, receiving professional medical care that helps to support their health and safety. This relieves the emotional and physical pressure from family members who may otherwise struggle to provide the necessary care and support.

Visit A Care Home | Four Seasons Health Care

maximios / Blog

We understand that choosing the right care home is a big decision for you and your loved ones. Our homes are ready to welcome new residents who need care and support, and we are here to provide help and advice to ensure you find the right care for you.

Here are useful recommendations to help you get the most out of your visit and a handy downloadable checklist to print out and take with you when you visit a care home.

Mum has settled so well, this is due to the staff making her

feel so welcome

Before visiting, take some time to reflect on what will make the new living arrangement feel like home. Consider your loved one’s preferences, what makes them happy, and the community links they wish to maintain.

  • Activities and Hobbies: What activities does your loved one enjoy? Ask about the range of activities offered to ensure they align with their interests.
  • Community Ties: Explore the community links available, ensuring your loved one can maintain connections that bring them joy.
  • Accessibility: Consider how accessible the home is for visits—whether public transport is available or if there is parking for added convenience.

Ensuring a smooth transition to one of our homes involves considering specific details about your loved one’s needs. Be prepared to chat about:

  • Enquiry pack / Symponia: Any queries you have about the care and services offered by your chosen home, plus information discussed with your financial advisor.  We have partnered with Symponia to help with those ‘paying for care‘ questions. Get in touch with the home to request an enquiry pack before you visit. You can find a home here.
  • Medications: Bring a list of current medications, dosage, and specific administration requirements. This can help the home team understand a little more about the treatment plan already in place and whether they are able to provide suitable support.
  • Mobility: Share information about mobility levels and any assistance required.
  • Room Preferences: To create a familiar environment, discuss room preferences, including furniture and personal items. Visit the available room or rooms and think about what’s important – is it a nice view, being close to other people or perhaps having a quiet peaceful room.
  • Dietary Requirements: Talk about dietary preferences or restrictions for a personalised dining experience.
  • Key Challenges: Share insights into critical challenges you are facing now to assist the care team in tailoring support.
  • Pets: You can bring a pet to live with you with agreement from the Home Manager.

Embarking on the journey to find the perfect Four Seasons Health Care or brighterkind home is an exciting step towards a warm and supportive living experience. To make the most of your visit, here are some key questions to ask:

  • Personalised Care Plans: Ask how care plans are personalised to meet individual needs and preferences.
  • Staffing and Support: Ask about the dedicated team, their qualifications, and how they engage with residents to create a nurturing environment.
  • Safety Measures: Understand the safety measures within the home, ensuring peace of mind for residents and their families.
  • Communication Channels: Learn about the communication channels between the care home and families to stay well-informed about the resident’s wellbeing.

Informative and

friendly tour

Your visit is an opportunity to ensure that our homes align with your expectations and the specific needs of your loved one. Meet our dedicated staff, witness daily activities, and ask any questions you may have.

Before your visit we recommend familiarising yourself with our team roles and uniforms so you can quickly identify who they are and what they do within the home.

What to consider:

  • Atmosphere: Pay attention to the atmosphere during your visit. Does it feel warm, welcoming, and supportive? Trust your instincts.
  • Interaction: Observe how staff interact with residents. A caring and attentive team contributes to a positive living experience.
  • Residents’ Wellbeing: Notice the wellbeing of current residents. Happy and engaged residents are a positive indication of a thriving community.

Understanding how care will be funded is essential. Consider whether you or your loved one has assets or funds to cover the cost or if referral through social services is needed.

Each of our care homes can signpost you to a local Symponia member who can provide guidance and advice about paying for care. You may already have access to an independent financial advisor (IFA) who specialises in paying for care options.  These IFAs are usually registered with the Society of Later Life Advisors (SOLLA) and all Symponia members are also members of SOLLA.  You can find helpful information about funding your care here.

If unforeseen circumstances arise, such as illness, reschedule your visit to ensure you can fully engage with the home and make an informed decision.

Schedule an in-person visit to experience our homes’ warmth and inviting atmosphere firsthand. This allows you to meet our dedicated team, observe daily activities, and ask any questions you may have.
